Tilt A Book and Be Transported to Heaven!

Lookie Bookie!

My Thoughts:I just love this picture and whoever took it is such a tease! I would love to have a room like this when I get my own house. There are books on the outside and in the inside and the stairs hint to other stuff, maybe more books or a secret reading spot! Whatever it is, I'm sure that it would be a dream come true!

What do you think?

Follow Friday!

It's Follow Friday!

This is my Follow Friday post, a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee!

This week's question:
Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...
I don't watch much television, but my favorite TV show is Bones. It is about an anthropologist and a FBI agent who solve murders together while constantly battling fate's plan of them being together! I'm sure everyone's heard of it because its fairly popular, especially with Booth's looks!

It is also time for the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Crazy-For-Books!

Today's Book Blogger Question:
Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"
I haven't wished that since I started this blog because I put a lot of thought into it this time. Now, the first 2 times, I thought the names were awesome at first, but then they started to sound stupid, but this time I think that my name is just perfect!

Waiting on Wednesday: Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer

This week's WoW is
Wolfsbane
It will be published on July 26th, 2011.
Summary from Goodreads:
This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended. Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer, one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack and the man she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

Why I'm Waiting: I loved Nightshade and I don't know anybody who didn't. When I finished Nightshade, the cover to Wolfsbane had already been released and after reading I had to stop myself from feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't have it NOW! I wanted to throw a temper tantrum. Thankfully, this comes out during the summer so I can do an all-nighter to read it!

Jane by April Lindner

Format: Hardcover

Pages: 384

Publisher:

Publication Date: October 11, 2010

Summary from Goodreads:

Forced to drop out of an esteemed East Coast college after the sudden death of her parents, Jane Moore takes a nanny job at Thornfield Park, the estate of Nico Rathburn, an iconic rock star on the brink of a huge comeback. Practical and independent, Jane reluctantly becomes entranced by her magnetic and brooding employer, and finds herself in the midst of a forbidden romance. But there's a mystery at Thornfield, and Jane's much-envied relationship with Nico is tested by a torturous secret from his past.
Part irresistible romance and part darkly engrossing mystery, this contemporary retelling of the beloved classic Jane Eyre promises to enchant a new generation of readers.

Why I Read This: The summary interested me and I had never read Jane Eyre. I had tried but I couldn't understand the dialogue and get into it. The version, more modern, kept me intrigued until the very last word.

My Review: I loved this Jane. I just couldn't get into the other one and I got bored not understanding the words. I knew of Jane's stoic nature, but hardly of anything else. This book for me really wasn't a remake but an introduction. It was like being at a symphony, seeing the orchestra after only listening to it on your iPod. Jane is her usual stiff self, but I had a better understanding of her. It broke my heart to hear of how her mother treated her and to imagine experiencing that type of obvious favoritism.

There was always a sort of grudge that I held with Jane Eyre and Jane. I did not like the age difference at all. I just can't get connected with that because when I was reading Jane Eyre, I always imagined him as wrinkly and old and the opposite of Nico. I got over the age difference very easily because I got the understanding that it was no different from Edward and Bella. Jane was young in age, but had a maturity that made her relationship real and not a grown man dating a child.

Nico was likable after I understood. He had a strange aloof way about him and was forward with Jane and more or less knew how to be with Jane.

I really don't know how to describe him except that I think it was Jane and their relationship that made him a memorable part of the book. Another thing was Jane's relationship with Maddy. I just loved it and was very glad that they got along. I know how hard or awkward it is when a parent starts to date again and I was worried that they wouldn't get along. I finished this book in one setting and there wasn't a minute that was wasted. April Lindner made me truly enjoy a classic and everything from their meeting to their break-up was enjoyable and maybe, just maybe, inspired me to retry Jane Eyre.

This week's question:
If you are a fan of Science Fiction what is your favorite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?
I really don't like science fiction at all! The closest I've probably come is Lord of the Flies and I didn't eve finish it!

It is also time for the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Crazy-For-Books!

Today's Book Blogger Question:

Here's a link to my review...... The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler

Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler

Format: Paperback
Pages: 242
Publisher: Speak

Why I Read This: I had added it to my to-reads list and didn't intend to read it soon because it was shorter than I was use to, but when I got to Barnes and Nobles and saw the cupcakes, there was nooooo way I could resist!

Plot: Penny Lane has just moved back to her mother's hometown in Hog's Hollow. Penny is just ready to go back home to the city and to her city friends and back to her dad. She keeps up the hope of returning although the chances are slim. Her mom has started an all cupcake bakery, entitled Cupcake Queen. It's not like Penny is any help, she can't even put rose on correctly without breaking them and she feels that she never does anything right. On one her first expeditions out of the bakery, Penny meets her enemy and makes her first impression. School doesn't really go well until she meets new friends and learns to except the things that come her way and the cute boy that runs on the beach starts paying attention to her. In this guide to managing and accepting, Penny leads us on her journey to finding herself in a new place.

Characters: I found Penny a bit shallow in the beginning because all she wanted to do was get back to her City friends and she acted oblivious to her mother's and father's separation. Also a difference in the book, instead of Penny standing up to the mean girl, her best friend did it. There was hardly any confrontation between Penny and Charity at all. I liked her friend, Tally and thought that she was a wonderful supporting character and unique as can be. I was surprised and happy when she decided to compete against Charity in the pageant, but I was bit scared when she started changing her appearance. I thought that Penny was going to lose her only friend. Marcus was cute and sweet and shy, in just the right way. I think that him and Penny connected well, but I felt that there was a lot left to talk about on the death of his mother. I also couldn't figure out why it was so hard to tell Penny that he was being tutored by Charity instead of hiding it. But that's teenage love for you.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Stillburrow Crush

This week's WoW is

The Stillburrow Crush

by Linda Kage. It was previously released on February 26, 2010.
The Stillburrow CrushSummary from Goodreads:

Sixteen year old, Carrie Paxton, isn't the most popular girl in her small town of Stillburrow. But that's never concerned her before. Her life revolves around her writing, and she loves her job as the student editor of the school paper.
But when she gets assigned to interview the football team's beloved quarterback, she takes one look into Luke Carter's blue eyes and is a goner. Suddenly, she doesn't like her lowly rank so much. Then her dreamy, popular crush surprises her when he starts to act as if he likes her in return. But there's no way Luke Carter could possibly ever like a nobody like Carrie Paxton. Is there?

Why I'm Waiting: I dislike it when books sound so awesome and you really want to buy it, but your bookstore doesn't have it. Then if your bookstore doesn't have it, you have scour the Internet for it and possibly find it on Book Depository for a decent price and free shipping. How can you beat that? It is awesome and I love Book Depository as if it were my own child, but when it comes to books, I can be pretty.....impatient. I know, real shocker, huh? I want to go up to the register and pay for my books and then touch and feel them as my mom drives me home and to me browsing the teen section while drinking a frozen caramel macchiato is half the fun of reading. I hope that I will be able to find it in a bookstore during spring break vacation, but if I don't I will end up buying it offline and checking the mailbox every day like a crazy person.
Excerpt from Linda Kage’s site
I turned to stare out the passenger-side window, focusing on an old house that had been abandoned for as long as I could remember. I said, “They really ought to tear that place down. Just look at that sagging roof.”
Luke gave a soft laugh behind me. “That would involve change.”
“What do you mean?”
“Haven’t you ever noticed this town’s stuck in a time capsule? It’s like we’ve never heard of the term progress. I mean, there’s hardly any cell phone towers around and forget about high speed internet.”
“High speed what?” I asked, glancing back to give him a puzzled look.
He opened his mouth to explain, when it dawned on him I was joking. “You always have to be a smart aleck, don’t you?”
We shared a smile.
I looked into his face and relished these minutes where I could ogle him selfishly. I knew I should give him the information he wanted from me now, but I could only stare. It took me a moment to notice his expression, though.
His gaze had been roaming my face but had paused on my left ear. When he snorted out a surprised laugh, I frowned.
He pointed a finger toward my hair. “Uh, I think the wind messed it up some.”
I patted my head, my face flaming.
“Here,” Luke said, and flipped down his visor, lighting up the mirror underneath. I looked up and groaned. Not only had the wind caught a hold of my hair and ripped it half out of its ponytail, it had also knotted and twisted it into a healthy-sized rat’s nest.
I tried to ignore the fact that Luke was sitting next to me—and already knew exactly what the disaster looked like—and ripped the holder out of my hair. I combed through the mess with my fingers but there were knots everywhere. When I caught him staring again, I glared.
“What?” I demanded. But he continued to gawk. I patted at my hair and wondered what he could possibly be thinking about the mess.
“I’ve never seen it all down before,” he said.
Startled, I glanced back in the mirror. I’d seen it down millions of times. I just didn’t leave the house with it loose. There was too much of it to let it run wild. I tried to see it how Luke must see it. It was curly—so curly it bobbed. Tight little curls framed my face like a border full of personality. From the corner of my eye, I saw Luke lift his hand toward one spiraling lock.
But when I turned to him, he lowered his fingers and shifted his attention out the window. I stared at his profile for a second, breathing hard.
“It’s pretty,” he said, more to the windshield than to me.
I wanted him to lift his hand again. I wanted him to touch my hair.
“I think yours is prettier.”
He laughed. “Guys do not have pretty hair.”
“Well, yours is.”
I reached over and touched his hair. I thought maybe if I touched his, he might get the guts to touch mine. But at contact, I gasped.
“It’s so soft.”
I ran my fingers through the part that always curled around a cowlick when it got wet. I scooted over, leaning across the console between us.
“Carrie.”
His voice sounded strained so I looked down. I hadn’t realized I’d moved so close. But when I gazed into his face, we were only a breath apart. I was positioned a little above him so I could reach his hair. He lifted his face up to stare at me. His eyes were a blazing blue.
That’s when he touched my hair. He drew his fingers through the curls to cup my head. Then he tilted his chin to the side and pulled me down. I was shocked when our mouths connected. He was kissing me.
Oh my God, Luke Carter was kissing me.
What are you waiting for?

In My Mailbox and My Bookshelves (2/13/11)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren.

I only have three books this week, but I do have a new bookcase that I just got finished putting together!
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Delirium (Delirium, #1)
Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1)
Iron Queen (Iron King, #3) by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3)

This is my new bookshelf and it is already halfway full. Some of my to-reads are on the top shelf and hardbacks on the second shelf and paperbacks on the third. There's nothing on the last shelf. It is actually a five shelf bookcase, but it is supposed to be for vases and pictures so the bottom shelf is huge! Huge enough for two shelves and I am now wondering where I am going to find another shelf. :/
This is my old bookshelf, but I figured since I've never shown you guys I'd show you now. This one is full and the book that are on the new book shelf were sitting on top of these books. So there it and they are, hope you enjoyed and good night!
